The successful candidate will be part of a team developing the RF hardware for client’s cutting edge instrumentation.  This includes the integration of hardware and firmware.  The successful candidate will implement new products as well as enhancement to existing products and have leadership responsibilities  This position is part of client’s RF Channel Emulation team.  The primary focus of the position is on the design, implementation, integration and test of Spirent's wireless instrument hardware.   Responsibilities: Hardware design and implementation of new or existing products which includes the specification and development of hardware for RF modules and subsystems such as high performance frequency synthesizers and up/down converters. Hardware development of RF circuitry and associated control circuitry. Development responsibilities include design and specification (which involves high-level design and detailed design), scheduling, implementation and coordination of tasks. Provide technical guidance to other engineers and/or technicians.   Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering is highly desirable. Minimum of eight (8) years of product development experience in a similar position in related technologies. Strong knowledge of current RF circuit design concepts in the DC-12GHz range. Knowledge of the theory and design of PLL synthesizers. Strong knowledge of RF hardware technology. Strong knowledge of and a demonstrated track record of solving system level RF design challenges in the DC-12 GHz range and bringing products to market. Familiarity with lab equipment such as communication testers, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators and RF network analyzers. Familiarity with cellular, PCS communications technologies and digital communications is desired. Strong knowledge of hardware design, implementation, integration and verification practices desired. Expert level knowledge with RF components including mixers, switches, splitters/combiners, filters and MMIC amplifiers desirable. Experience with mmWave circuit design is a plus. Familiarity with wireless communication technologies (4G/5G) desirable. Experience with MIMO, massive MIMO, and beam forming is a plus. Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including methods and practices to Design For Manufacturability desired. Knowledge of Embedded Software design, implementation, integration and test desired. Knowledge of Built In Self-Test (BIST) at PCBA, Module and Instrument level desired. Knowledge of FPGA design, implementation, integration and test is a plus. Motivated self-starter who likes challenging work. Good organizational skills and attention to detail. Good written and verbal communication skills. Possesses strong problem solving skills and team-oriented approach. Strong technical leadership skills.
